A Fully Fledged Android Tablet for $130 Is Your Deal of the Day

A Fully Fledged Android Tablet for $130 Is Your Deal of the Day

Earlier this morning we blipped that Barnes & Noble is selling current-generation Nooks for as low as $130. You might have missed it among the Apple announcements. But it's worth a second look, because this is one of the best Android tablet deals we've ever seen.

As a "Father's Day Promotion," Barnes & Noble is offering the 7" Nook HD 16GB for $130, and the 9" Nook HD+ for $150. These are very nice tablets that have full access to the Google Play store?which means you can install basically any Android app on them, no rooting necessary. Both Nooks have great screens, but neither includes a camera.

We've never seen a new current-generation Android tablet come anywhere close to this price without major rebate shenanigans. Please note, however, that this sale is hardly a surprise. Barnes & Noble's been running compelling sales on the Nook on a regular basis this year?in fact, there was a in-store trial for this exact sale two months ago. Reports even speculate that Barnes & Noble might be getting out of the tablet game?which would make this the best "discontinued" tablet sale since the HP Touchpad. [Barnes & Noble]
