A tank in the oil tank yard on Simpson Ferry Road in Hampden Twp. was hit by lightning at 5:05 Friday. Heavy black smoke came from the tank before it was contained. HazMat teams were on the scene and police evacuated up to 300 people from the area, sending them to Trinity High School. Simpson Ferry Road was closed from the intersection of Wesley Drive to Rupp Ave in Shiremanstown. Joe Hermitt, PennLive.com
